I presented a quote from Dolly Parton today in which she emphasizes the significance of bravery in our everyday lives. Without bravery, we will not achieve too much in life. When we lack bravery, our life’s decisions are dominated by fear. No good decision was ever made from a point of fear. Bravery does not mean fighting off dragons. Bravery can be as simple as planning your goals and seeking to achieve them despite the obstacles. As an ASVAB tutor, I meet many students who had difficult experiences in the past with the ASVAB exam. Some are consumed with fear of retesting and feel the urge to give up. Choosing to not give up in life is bravery. I remind my ASVAB students that when they know the material on the ASVAB, that confidence replaces their fear. Sometimes bravery is just putting in the hard work necessary to achieve our life’s goals.
