Hug a GI Day

As an ASVAB tutor, I see the value in appreciating our military men and women.  I include military holidays on my website blog.  Today, March 4, is Hug a GI Day. National Hug a G.I. Day was created by Adrienne Sioux Koopersmith in 1996.  It occurs on March 4 which is said to be the only day of the 12-month calendar which is a complete sentence and an order: “March Forth!”

G.I. is an abbreviation for Government Issue.  It typically refers to Army personnel, but this holiday includes the members of all branches.  It is a day to remind us to appreciate our military heroes.  This day is meant to salute our American military heroes.
