Word Knowledge Answer and Video
In working as an ASVAB tutor, I present between 20 to 30 vocabulary words in each of my c2 hour class sessions, except for the days when I do practice tests in class. Two days ago, I presented an ASVAB vocabulary word for review. The word is “horrendous”. The word “horrendous” is one of many words that could appear on the Word Knowledge section of the ASVAB.
The question is:
What does horrendous mean?
- Tremendous
- Horrible
- Pleasant
- Condescending
The video presents my cat Mr. Cuddles® presenting the word in context. He says, “When my owner, first told me to use the litter box, I said, ‘This is horrendous. I mean what a horrible set up. What does she think I am? Some kind of animal or something?’”
The word “horrendous” means horrible.
The correct answer is Choice B. horrible.
