Factorial Answers

Yesterday I presented a question on factorials.  Knowing how to work with factorials will help to improve your ASVAB math score.  Once you know what it means, it is a  simple concept to master.  Factorials can be presented in one of two ways.  The example can be presented as 4 factorial or 4!  As an ASVAB tutor, I remind the students in my ASVAB prep course that 4 factorial and 4! mean the same thing.  It means 4 x 3 x 2 x 1 = 24.

I tell the students in my course that factorial means how many different ways you can arrange something.  4 factorial or 4! means how many ways you can arrange 4 objects. I give the example to my students of how many ways you can arrange 4 books on a  shelf.  The answer is 4 x 3 x 2 x 1 = 24 ways.
