Word Knowledge Answer
In working as an ASVAB tutor, I remind my students of the importance of reviewing Latin and Greek roots in preparing for the ASVAB.
Yesterday I presented a question on Word Knowledge.
I present the Latin root word “duc”.
There are a number of words in the English language with the Latin root “duc”. Examples include abduct, aqueduct, conducive, conduct, deduce, deduct, induce, induction, introduce, viaduct, etc.

Abduct means to take away illegally by force or deception, kidnap.

Deduce means to arrive at a conclusion by reasoning, to draw a logical conclusion.
Deduct means to take away from a total.
Induce means to succeed in persuading or influencing someone to do something.
Induction is the action or process or inducting someone to a position or organization.
Introduce means to bring into use or make someone known by name to another in person.
Viaduct is a long bridge-like structure, carrying a road or railroad across a valley or other low ground.
