Paragraph Comprehension Question
As an ASVAB tutor, I remind my students of the importance of knowing different techniques for answering reading comprehension questions. There are a number of important types of questions I present on the Paragraph Comprehension section of the ASVAB. Some of the most common types of questions are main idea, detail, vocabulary, cause and effect, inference, author’s purpose, and author’s tone.
Today I present a question on Paragraph Comprehension.
The topic is author’s tone.
The question is:
What is the author’s tone in a passage about his heartbreak after the death of a loved one?
- Optimistic
- Depressing
- Scary
- Angry
Author’s tone is the attitude of the author in a reading passage. Do you know what the author’s tone would be in writing about his heartbreak after the death of a loved one?
I will post the answer and explanation tomorrow.
