Word Knowledge Video

In my book, The ASVAB Tutor’s Word Knowledge and Paragraph Comprehension Study Guide, I review both verbal sections of the ASVAB.  Vocabulary and reading comprehension are two areas that I cover in this book.  Yesterday I presented an ASVAB vocabulary word for review.  The word is “augment”.  Augment is one of many vocabulary words that can appear on the Word Knowledge section of the ASVAB.

The question is:

What does the word “augment” mean?

  1. Indent
  2. To make worse
  3. To improve
  4. To listen

Today I present this video with my cat, Mr. Cuddles®, talking.  He presents “augment” in context.  The sentence he says while wearing a fur coat and fur hat is, “I was told this outfit would augment my appearance.  Do you think it improves how I look?”  The word “augment” means to improve or increase.  The video presents the meaning of “augment” as improve.  It can also mean increase.  An example would be, “Joe took on a second job to augment his income.”  The cat video presented the word in context and gave clues to its meaning.
