What does the prefix ortho- mean?
As an ASVAB tutor, I decided to include the prefix ortho- in my charts of Greek and Latin prefixes in my book, The ASVAB Tutor’s Word Knowledge and Paragraph Comprehension Study Guide. Ortho- is a Greek prefix. Many words in the English language start with the Greek prefix ortho-. These words include orthopedics, orthopedically, orthography, orthodontia, and orthodontists. Knowing the meaning one prefix opens the possibility of understanding numerous new words. Imagine the possibilities that come with understanding the meaning of the most common prefixes, root words, and suffixes. Do you know what ortho- means?
