In my ASVAB prep course, I place great emphasis on algebra to help improve the math score in the Mathematics Knowledge section of the test. Solving for x is a very important part of the algebra questions on this exam. In The ASVAB Tutor’s Mathematics Knowledge Study Guide, I have lessons on solving for x. This example requires distribution and separating the x’s from the numbers. I tell my students to imagine that the x’s and the numbers do not like each other and need to be on other sides of the equal sign. This is the way to solve for x. Do you know how to solve this one? The answer and explanation will be presented tomorrow.
