Arithmetic Reasoning

As an ASVAB tutor, I place a strong emphasis on the importance of mastering the topic of distance and rate.  Yesterday I presented a question on distance and rate that could appear on the Arithmetic Reasoning section of the ASVAB.  Distance and rate is a very important skill to master in preparation for the ASVAB.  The question I presented asked about a train traveling at 60 mph.  If the train left at 6 AM and needed to travel 540 miles, when would it reach its destination?  To solve this program, there are a few steps to follow.  First divide 60 mph into 540 miles to figure out how many hours long the trip is.  540 divided by 60 is 9.  The trip would be 9 hours long.  If the train left at 6 AM, it would arrive at the destination 9 hours later.  What is 9 hours after 6 AM?  The answer is 3 PM.
