Arithmetic Reasoning

An important skill to master when reviewing for the Arithmetic Reasoning section of the ASVAB is fractions.  I remind my students of the importance of being able to perform the four basic operations with fractions: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

Working with fractions is a skill that many of my ASVAB students need to improve upon.  I included a review of fractions in my book, The ASVAB Tutor’s Arithmetic Reasoning Study Guide.

Today I present an Arithmetic Reasoning question.

The skill is multiplication of fractions.

The question is:

Solve

5/6 x 2/4 =

A. 5/12

B. 1/2

C. 7/24

D. 5/6

Do you know how to multiply fractions?  I remind my students that multiplying fractions is easier than adding or subtracting fractions.

Do you know the answer?  I will present the answer and explanation tomorrow.
