Arithmetic Reasoning Answer
The topic of measurement is one of the many subtopics that I review in Arithmetic Reasoning. My book, The ASVAB Tutor’s Arithmetic Reasoning Study Guide, has a review of the topic of measurement. I include the various measurement conversions in my book and in my course. It is necessary to know the measurement conversions of distance, length, weight, and liquid measurement. I remind students of the importance of knowing the conversions in metric measurement as well. Yesterday I presented an Arithmetic Reasoning question on measurement. It is important to know the conversions in metric measurement when preparing for the ASVAB.
The question is:
How many meters are there is 5.2 km?
- 52 meters
- 52 meters
- 520 meters
- 5200 meters
The Greek root kilo- means thousand.
A kilometer has 1000 meters.
Therefore 5.2 km has 5200 meters.
The correct answer is Choice D. 5200 meters.
