Arithmetic Reasoning Decimal Answer
In working as an ASVAB tutor, I place a strong emphasis on the Arithmetic Reasoning section of the ASVAB. One of the topics that my students struggle with is division with decimals.
Yesterday I presented an Arithmetic Reasoning question.
The question is on division with decimals.
The question is:
What is 90 divided by .30?
- 3
- 30
- 300
- 3000
There is an important step to follow when dividing by decimals. In this example, you are dividing by a number with a decimal. In order to proceed, the decimal needs to be moved to the right of the number.
.30 becomes 30.
This required moving the decimal 2 places to the right.
Since I moved the decimal 2 places to the right in that number, you need to move it 2 places to the right in the number 90.
The number 90 becomes 9000.
Then you need to do 9000 divided by 30.
The answer is 300.
The correct choice is C. 300.
