Arithmetic Reasoning

In working as an ASVAB tutor, I cover numerous topics in Arithmetic Reasoning.  One of the topics I cover is the conversion of percentages, fractions, and decimals.  I remind my students of the importance of being able to make these conversions.  Some problems ask for the conversions.  Some problems are easier to solve as fractions while some are easier to solve as decimals.  Being able to convert between percentages, fractions, and decimals is a critical skill in being successful with Arithmetic Reasoning.

Today I present an Arithmetic Reasoning question which involves the conversion of a fraction to a decimal.

The question is:

Change the fraction 4/7 into a decimal.

  1. 47
  2. 571
  3. 74
  4. 75

Do you know the steps involved in converting a fraction into a decimal?

I will present the explanation and answer tomorrow.
