April is the Month of the Military Child

As an ASVAB tutor, I include military holidays, celebrations and anniversaries in my blog.

April is the Month of the Military Child. The month of April received this designation in the mid-1980s.  The Pentagon and other military support organizations and agencies recognize military children for their sacrifice and courage on the homefront.  The Department of Defense celebrated military children during the month of April.  Each year, the month of April is set aside to recognize the children of America’s military men and women.  This month honors these children for their sacrifices as serving our country as part of a military family.  The color purple is worn during this month to honor military children.  The term is “Purple Up” for military kids.
