Yesterday I presented a question about the perimeter of a triangle.

Do you know what the perimeter of an equilateral triangle is if each side is equal to 5?

One of the topics I cover in my ASVAB prep course is the topic of triangles.  In order to answer this question, it is essential to know that an equilateral triangle has 3 equal sides.  As an ASVAB tutor, I remind my students that it is not necessary to remember a formula to know how to find the perimeter of a shape.  Perimeter is found by adding up the lengths of all the sides of a shape.  A triangle has 3 sides.  In an equilateral triangle, if each side equals 5, the perimeter is 5 + 5 + 5 = 15.

Did you know the answer to this question?
