ASVAB Math

In my ASVAB prep course, I emphasize 15 subtopics in Mathematics Knowledge.  One of the subtopics is triangles.  When I tutor for the ASVAB, I remind my students of the importance of knowing the Pythagorean theorem and common right triangles that exist.  Yesterday I presented a question about the ratio of the sides of a right triangle.  If the ratio was 3:4:5, could you figure out which one was a possible set of measurements of the sides of the right triangle?  Upon looking at the choices, it can be seen that the triangle with sides of 9:12:15 is triple the size of the 3:4:5 ratio.  Therefore, a triangle with sides of 9, 12, and 15 has sides with a 3:4:5 ratio.
