Yesterday I presented an example about ratios. Ratios are an important part of the ASVAB that I review in my ASVAB prep course. I make sure to tutor people on the topic of ratios when they are studying for the ASVAB. Knowing how to work with ratios and proportions will help to improve your ASVAB math score on the Arithmetic Reasoning section of the ASVAB. Did you know how to solve yesterday’s math problem? It presents the question where there are 10 men and 12 women in a room and you need to figure out the ratio of men to people in the room. In solving this, we need to figure out the total number of people in the room. 10 men + 12 women is 22 people. To figure out the ratio of men to people in the room, set up a fraction of men/people which would be 10/22. This fraction can be reduced to result in 5/11. 5/11 is the final answer. How did you do with this problem?
