As an ASVAB tutor, I remind my student that studying prefixes, root words, and suffixes will help to improve their Word Knowledge score. Yesterday I presented a question about the suffix -saur. Do you know what the suffix -saur means?
-Saur is a Latin suffix that means lizard. Words that end with -saur refer to reptiles, especially extinct ones. I presented some examples of word that end with -saur. Today I have some more words with the suffix -saur: allosaur, balisaur, barosaur, maiasaur, mesosaur, mosasaur, tyrannosaur, and ichthyosaur. All of the words that end in -saur refer to a type of dinosaur, a form of lizard.
