Paragraph Comprehension
In the book I wrote entitled, The ASVAB Tutor’s Word Knowledge and Paragraph Comprehension Study Guide, I discuss the different types of questions that appear on the ASVAB. One of these types of questions is inference. Inference questions call upon the reader to read between the lines to come up with the answer. The answer is not directly stated.
Yesterday’s post asked which of the following is an inference question:
Where was the stolen car found?
What do you think will happen next?
How old was the man in the story?
Which character got lost?
Do you know which one is an inference question?
The inference question is: What do you think will happen next?
This question requires the reader to make an educated guess since the answer is not directly stated in the passage.
