Yesterday I presented a problem about isosceles triangles. Isosceles triangles are a type of triangle that I present in my ASVAB prep course. As an ASVAB tutor, I make sure to talk about the different types of angles and the different types of triangles. Knowing the types of angles and triangles is one of the subtopics in Math Knowledge that can help improve one’s ASVAB score.
The question from yesterday asks the question: If one of the equal angles in an isosceles triangle measures 35 degrees, what is the measure of the unequal angle?
To solve this problem it is essential to know that the 3 angles in a triangle measure 180 degrees.
If one of the equal angles in the triangles measures 35, the other equal angle measures 35. The sum of the 2 angles is 70.
The total angle measure is 180.
180 – 70 = 110 degrees.
The measure of the unequal angle is 110 degrees.
