In working as an ASVAB tutor, I see the value of reviewing Latin and Greek prefixes, root words, and suffixes to improve one’s vocabulary score on the Word Knowledge section of the ASVAB.

Yesterday I presented the prefix trans-.  Trans- is a Latin prefix that means across.

Transportation is the act of carrying across.

Transfer means to carry across.

Translucent means light going across.

Transparent means light going fully across.

Translate means carrying one language across to another.

Transatlantic means across the Atlantic Ocean.

Transit means going across.
