The Latin prefix mid- means middle.  This is one of the many Latin and Greek prefixes I have included in my book that helps my ASVAB students to review for the Word Knowledge section of the ASVAB.  As an ASVAB tutor, I remind my students of the value of reviewing not only ASVAB vocabulary but also Latin and Greek prefixes, root words and suffixes.  There are numerous English words that consist of the Latin prefix mid-.

Midway means in or toward the middle of something.

Midday is the middle of the day or noontime

Midair is a part of the air above the ground.
