Arithmetic Reasoning

Yesterday I presented a question about tip which involves the use of percentages.

The question was: If Mike dined at a restaurant and his bill came to $25.00 and he wants to give a 15% tip, how much would he leave for the tip?

Figuring out tip involves working with percents.  To find tip, it is necessary to change the percent to a decimal. Changing percent to decimal involves moving the decimal 2 places to the left.

15% = .15

Then multiply $25 x .15 = $3.75

The tip is $3.75.

Did you know how to solve this problem?
