Answer to Arithmetic Reasoning Question on Percentage
Yesterday I presented a question on percentages. As an ASVAB tutor, percentages is one of the subtopics I review in Arithmetic Reasoning. Do you know what percent of 80 is 60?
This problem is solved by using the following formula:
is/of = %100
60 is the “is”
80 is the “of”
The hundred always goes under the percent.
The percent is missing so that has the x value.
60/80 = x/100
Cross multiply
6000 = 80x
Reduce by taking away a zero from each side
600 = 8x
75% = x
The answer that 60 is 75% of 80.
