Measurement is a very important topic to know for the Arithmetic Reasoning section of the ASVAB.  As someone who tutors for the ASVAB, I make sure to cover this topic in my ASVAB prep course.  Knowing all the conversions for measurement will help to improve one’s ASVAB math score especially in the subtest of Arithmetic Reasoning.  To solve this problem, it is essential to know that 1 foot is 12 inches.  The first step is to convert the entire measurement into inches and then divide it by 4 to know how long each piece would be.  At the end, it is important to be able to change the inches back into feet if necessary.  To convert inches back into feet, it is necessary to divide by 12.  The answer is the feet and the remainder is the inches left.
