Word Knowledge Question

My book, The ASVAB Tutor’s Word Knowledge and Paragraph Comprehension Study Guide reviews over 500 ASVAB vocabulary words.  I review these words through the use of videos in my ASVAB prep course.

Today I present an ASVAB vocabulary word that is one of the words in my book.

This word is one of many that can appear on the Word Knowledge section of the ASVAB.

The word is “abscond”.

The question is:

What does the word “abscond” mean?

A. To kidnap

B. To leave quickly

C. To lie

D. To joke

The word “abscond” has the prefix ab-.  Do you know the meaning of the prefix ab-?  If you know the meaning of the prefix ab-, it can help you understand the meaning of the word “abscond”.  Tomorrow I will post a video of the word “abscond” starring my cat, Mr. Cuddles®.  He will present the word in a sentence that provides context clues to its meaning.
