I want to know that I have left a positive impact in this world.  Many tutors might present learning material and just focus on the lessons.  I teach ASVAB prep courses with the goal of imparting knowledge, but I also strive to inspire people.  The goal of a tutor is to teach lessons.  I hold other goals as well.  I meet many people who have been discouraged by failing the ASVAB, discouraged because of the difficulty they face in the area of math, discouraged because of their weakness in vocabulary.  I work to help people out of their sense of discouragement.  My goal is to make sure people do not give up on themselves.  I always point out my students’ strong points.  One technique that helps to bring out the best in my ASVAB students is to pair up students with different strengths.  This way, they can learn from each other.  I have seen some powerful friendships created in the process.  To me, being an ASVAB tutor is not just about being a  person who tutors for an exam or provides help in math and reading skills.  I want to be an inspiration.  I want to be a motivator who encourages people to never give up on themselves.  I want to know that I encouraged people to work toward their dreams and to never ever give up!
