As someone who tutors for the ASVAB, in order to prepare to teach my ASVAB prep course, I make sure to review material from numerous ASVAB study guides.  I was looking through a  study guide and came across the word “pansophy”.  It was a  word I of which I did not know the meaning.  I quickly thought about analyzing the word by its root words.  The word “pansophy” has 2 root words, pan and soph.  Both of these words are Green root words.  Pan means all.  Soph means wisdom.  When I put the 2 Greek roots together, it meant all wisdom.  Knowing this lead me to the answer, choice A universal wisdom.  Do not underestimate the importance of knowing Latin and Greek word roots.  When a word is broken up through the parts of prefix, root word, and suffix, it is a very useful technique to understand the meaning of the words.  Some words do not have word roots, but many do.  Many people come to me for ASVAB math help, but I remind them to not lose sight of studying for vocabulary.  I remind my students to study prefixes, roots words, suffixes, and lists of common ASVAB vocabulary words.
