Yesterday I presented a pattern of numbers. Did you know what pattern should come next in the sequence?
1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, _______
This pattern is a little bit of a challenging example. It is known as the Fibonacci sequence, and it is a little different from the other patterns and sequences you might come across. In my ASVAB prep course, I mention the Fibonacci sequence as a different type of sequence that is good to be aware of. I remind my students I tutor for the ASVAB that knowing how to work with sequences can help to improve their ASVAB math score.
Did you know the answer to this question?
Let’s examine the pattern.
1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, ______
1 + 1 = 2,
1 + 2 = 3
2 + 3 = 5
3 + 5 = 8
5 + 8 = 13
8 + 13 leads us to the answer of 21.
Each number is added to the previous number and that leads to the next number in the pattern.
