In Paragraph Comprehension, one type of question that can be seen on the test is a question on author’s purpose.  Author’s purpose is the reason the author wrote the piece.  One type of author’s purpose is to persuade the reader about a certain topic.  As an ASVAB tutor, I teach my students about the different types of questions that appear on the Paragraph Comprehension section of the ASVAB.  Even though I focus very heavily on math in my ASVAB classes, I make sure to address the different types of questions that appear on the Paragraph Comprehension section.

In today’s post, I present different types of writing pieces and ask which one of them could be a persuasive piece.

Do you know which one could be a persuasive piece?

  1. A science article about zebras
  2. A conservationist’s piece about preserving trees.
  3. A story about a girl and her dog.
  4. Facts about the Civil War.

The answer will be presented tomorrow.
