Yesterday I presented a question about the slope of a line.  Angles and slope is a topic that I present in my ASVAB prep course and in my book entitled, The ASVAB Tutor’s Mathematics Knowledge Study Guide.  As an ASVAB tutor, in order to help improve my student’s ASVAB math scores, I present 15 subtopics for Mathematics Knowledge.

Angles and slope is one of those subtopics.

The question I presented yesterday was:

Do you know how to figure out the y-intercept of a line when the line presented is:

y = -2x – 8

This line is presented in the slope-intercept form of a line.

y = mx + b

m represents the slope.

b represents the y-intercept.

In this case, since the line is y = -2x – 8, the y-intercept is -8.

Did you know how to solve this problem?
